Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the BookAmigo website and Android app, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It is published under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Data we collect
- Account details: your mobile number or email address, and your name. Service professionals also provide a bio, experience, languages spoken and service area.
- Addresses and location:the service addresses you save, including their map coordinates, so we can show professionals who serve your area and so the professional can reach you. We read your device’s location only when you tap “Use my current location” while adding an address.
- Professionals’ live location:while a professional has a job marked “On the way” and keeps the job page open, their device location is shared with that job’s customer so they can follow the arrival on a map. Sharing stops, and the stored position is cleared, when the professional marks themselves as arrived. Professionals also save a work location and travel distance.
- Bookings: the services you book, dates and times, prices, coupons, cancellations, reviews and ratings, and chat messages exchanged with the professional about a booking.
- Payments: payments are processed by Razorpay. We receive and store the payment and refund reference IDs and amounts, and your in-app wallet balance. We never see or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN or net-banking password.
- Technical data: a login session cookie that keeps you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics trackers.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account and sign you in with a one-time password.
- To match you with professionals, fulfil bookings and send booking updates.
- To process payments, refunds, wallet credits and professional payouts.
- To handle support requests, disputes and fraud prevention.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Who we share it with
- The professional you booksees your name, the booking details and the service address. Customers see a professional’s public profile, ratings and reviews.
- Razorpay Software Pvt. Ltd., to process payments and refunds under its own privacy policy.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that store our data on our behalf.
- OpenStreetMap, which serves the map images and looks up addresses you search for. Address searches go through our servers; map images load directly from OpenStreetMap, which sees your IP address.
- Government or law-enforcement authorities where required by law.
We do not sell your personal data.
Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account we erase or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except booking and payment records that we must keep for up to 8 years under Indian tax and accounting law.
Your rights
You can access and correct your profile in the app, and you can ask us for a copy of your data, a correction, or its erasure. To delete your account, follow the steps on our account deletion page.
Security
All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, sessions are signed, and access to personal data is restricted to staff who need it to run the service.
Children
BookAmigo is meant for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
